If you’re looking for a fun day or night out with a difference, then Paradise Island Adventure Golf might be just the place for you. #Advertisement
The indoor visitor attraction at The Barcode in Plymouth city centre has an eat-drink-putt package that’s perfect for groups of friends, families, corporate teambuilding, or works parties.
As well as playing 18 holes of crazy golf, your group will get a welcome drink in The Bunker café-bar on the mezzanine level on arrival and a buffet meal and dessert afterwards, also in the Bunker. The eat-drink-putt offering is for parties with a minimum of six people and is £20 per head.
Bookings are being taken now for the festive season – and one couple has even booked it for their wedding reception in the New Year!
We thought we’d swing by to give eat-drink-putt a go. Here’s what your party can expect …
To tee off your afternoon or evening, head upstairs to The Bunker for your welcome drink. There’s a choice of a bottle of cider or beer, glass of wine or soft drink. Then it’s back downstairs for your round of adventure golf. There’s a choice of two 18-hole courses – the Tiki Trail and Temple Ruins. They’re of equal degree of difficulty, both with jungle themes. One has a cave and the other has a temple; Temple Ruins is fully accessible.
Armed with our scorecards, we headed into the Tiki Trail. The jungle setting is great fun, all tropical trees, tiki huts, ancient caves and brightly-coloured lights. The round takes about 45 minutes to an hour (depending on how good or bad you are!), so you’ll have worked up an appetite for a bite to eat back at The Bunker by then.
Groups need to book their meal time in advance as the food is all cooked to order. The buffet includes rice bowls and loaded nachos with various sauces and toppings such as pulled pork, pulled beef, and smoky bean chilli, so you can create your own meal. That’s followed by a choice of dessert. Gluten free and vegan options are available – just state any dietary requirements when booking.
You should give yourself two to three hours for eat-drink-putt, but you can stay for as long as you like to make the most of the bar in The Bunker, which also has arcade games, pool table and outdoor terrace. The bar serves a range of bottled beers and ciders, wine, Prosecco, cocktails, mocktails, shots and spirits, as well as soft and hot drinks. Any additional drinks are charged at the usual prices.
Plymouth’s Paradise Island Adventure Golf is one of eight sites nationally. The local team is headed by manager Katy Burton and assistant manager Steph Peck. Katy said: “We’ve had a really good response to eat-drink-putt, there’s really nothing else quite like it. It’s a great way for people to get together and have some fun, and we are already taking bookings for the busy party season. It’s also something different for corporate get-togethers and as a team-building exercise.”
The eat-drink-putt package is available Mondays to Thursdays. Phone or email the venue to book your party and speak to Katy if you would like exclusive use of The Bunker for your group. The venue is also offering an ‘eat and play’ option for up to 8 people, which has a round of golf and a main meal for £15 per adult, £11 for children aged 5-16. Prior booking isn’t required for ‘eat and play’ but it is recommended to avoid disappointment. Phone 01752 669399.
Opening times are 10am-10pm Sundays to Thursdays; 10am – 11pm Fridays and Saturdays. Visit the official website and Facebook page for more information on the packages, menus and prices.
